We are Nuu-chah-nulth — the “people of the mountains” — a nation made up of 14 tribes along the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Our community here in Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ is one of those tribes, with deep roots in the land, forest, and ocean.
For generations, our people lived rich, self-sustaining lives, harvesting seafood, gathering from the forest, and building the great houses that held our culture.
